Stratford became a town in 1196 receiving a charter from King Richard I to hold a weekly market. Is the birthplace, hometown and burial place of William Shakespeare (1564-1616). Every year, the poet is celebrated in Stratford, celebration taking place in the month of April, the date of his birth and death. Shakespeare is often called England's national poet and the "Bard of Avon". His work consist of approximately 39 plays, 154 sonnets, two long narrative poems, and a few other verses. A very picturesque place where swans are wondering throughout the entire city.
York was a town in Roman times (71 - 410 AD) and its Celtic name is recorded as Eboracum. Cathedral Church of Saint Peter in York known also as York Minister, is the cathedral of York and probably one of the largest of its kind in Northern Europe constructed in gothic style.
At Stirling Castle several Scottish Kings and Queens have been crowned. The first record dates from around 1110 when King Alexander I dedicated a chapel here. At least eight sieges took place during its history, including several during the Wars of Scottish Independence, the last one happened in 1746.

It has been for decades the subject of speculative theories concerning a connection with the Knights Templar, Holy Grail and Freemasonry. It was also featured in this role in Dan Brown's bestselling novel The Da Vinci Code(2003) and its 2006 film adaptation. Medieval historians say these accounts have no basis in fact.
